The 451 Comic Book Initiative
Our dreams and fantasies are rooted from childhood with characters that have greatly impacted us, shaped us and live deep within us. The visual side of a comic is so easily relatable as we can relate to things on the page before we understand the written word. The Initiative allows us all to reconnect to our youth and experience this magical world. Allowing the viewer to embark on a journey to a world where reality and imagination are blurred.
For For the Cosplayers attending there will be some brilliant backdrops across the location for amazing photographs. The first three-day San Diego comics convention, the Golden State Comic-Con in1970 drew 300 people Today, the event typically attracts crowds of around 130,000. Diversity in content, diversity in creator and contributor, diversity in the genre. We have had students who have AHAD and Aspergers, who found the prequel workshops very rewarding. The workshops will teach and inspire new artists, and raise awareness of comic book as they will be discovering the art of visual storytelling, creating characters using only imagination and learning how to tell stories in a comic/graphic novel form. Exploring storytelling and character development the workshops can take place at any location, please ask if you would like to host one.
